Homeopathy Remedy Consultation
What is homeopathy?

For more than 200 years, Homeopathy has evolved as a system of medicine grounded in empiricism. Although it was formally established by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in 1796, its underlying principles can be traced back to the ideas of Hippocrates and Paracelsus.

Its central principle, “Like cures like” is based on the concept that there is a direct relationship between the symptoms a person experiences and the homeopathic medicine (remedy) prescribed.

There are more than 2,000 homeopathic remedies, each with its own unique profile, just like the way you experience your symptoms and the way you are as an individual. Homeopathy recognises that every individual experience symptoms differently and has unique physical, emotional, and psychological characteristics, influencing how they perceive and interact with the world. During a course of homeopathic treatment, a remedy that is most similar to you will be selected through a consultation with a homeopath, with the aim to support and stimulate your body’s innate healing response in the most appropriate way possible.

Your Homeopathic Consultation

The homeopathic consultation collaborative process in which the homeopath provides a supportive and therapeutic space, listening attentively to your story and asking some questions to gain a deep understanding of you as an individual and your current state of health and wellbeing.

The consultation explores not only your present symptoms and concerns but also your personal history, including how you have experienced and responded to life from an early age. In some cases, information relating to pregnancy, birth, and early childhood may also be considered, particularly when parents are available to provide additional insights. The aim is to understand how you relate to others, interact with your environment, and experience your physical, emotional and mental well-being.

While any medical diagnoses and clinical information are important, homeopathy places particular emphasis on your unique experience and perception of your health. How you describe your symptoms, feelings, and experiences in your own words provides valuable information that helps identify the most appropriate remedy for you.

Following the consultation, you will receive a homeopathic remedy in the form best suited to your needs, such as tablets or a liquid preparation. A follow-up appointment is usually scheduled 4 to 6 weeks later to assess your progress and review your treatment. Should additional support be required between appointments, telephone consultations and guidance are available.

Information will be treated in the strictest confidence in accordance with the code of ethics established by The Society of Homeopaths.

About the remedy

Homeopathic medicines are known as remedies, and there are over 2000 remedies available. Each remedy has its own unique profile and is selected according to the individual’s specific symptoms, characteristics and overall state of health.

Homeopathic remedies are prepared from a wide range of natural substances, including plants, minerals, and animal-derived* sources, among others.

The preparation of a homeopathic remedy begins with an extract of the original substance, known as the mother tincture. This tincture undergoes a process of serial dilution, with each stage accompanied by a procedure known as succussion. Succussion involves vigorous shaking of the solution at each dilution step. In homeopathic practice, this process is believed to activate and enhance the energetic properties of the original substance, forming the basis of the remedy's therapeutic action.

*This does not mean that an animal must be killed for every animal remedy made.

Who is it for?

Homeopathy is suitable for many conditions including:

Are you on a course of medication already?

Homeopathic remedies can be used alongside conventional medical treatments. Therefore, homeopathic care may be undertaken while you are receiving treatment prescribed by your GP or a medical specialist.

However, it is important that you do not discontinue or alter any prescribed medication or treatment plan without first consulting the healthcare professional responsible for your care. Any changes to your conventional treatment should only be made with the advice and approval of your GP or specialist.

Children and homeopathy

Children and infants often respond very well to homeopathic treatment, and many chronic, so-called “untreatable” or medically unexplainable conditions may be supported with outcomes that are often long-lasting. This approach may help reduce reliance on the repeated use of antibiotics, steroids or other medications, all of which come with unwanted side-effects.

Homeopathy helps to support a child’s overall well-being while promoting healthy growth and development It can also be effective in addressing emotional and behavioural challenges, as it considers the individual as a whole rather than focusing solely on specific symptoms.

During the consultation, we take into account the family's medical history, the child's personal health history, current symptoms, personality, and individual characteristics. For this reason, it is important that the child concerned attends the consultation whenever possible.

Please note that there is a home visit service for families who would find it difficult to come to the clinic. Please contact for further information.
